Gear and software we use to produce the podcast

Audio content is gaining momentum. We are seeing podcasts popping up from everywhere and to every topic – and it’s no wonder! We chose this medium because we loved how easy it is to just tune in and how close the conversation can seem as heard through only ears.

Producing a podcast is work, though. Apart from the having the right idea and interesting, unique views on what you’ll be talking about, the right equipment can also make a huge difference in the quality for your listeners.

Here we share our own personal setup and hope it helps you get started with your own podcast.

1. Headphones

We use the AIAIAI Modular Studio headphones made in Denmark. We went on the official website and picked ourselves the parts we wanted.
Price: 200 €

2. Mixer

The Rødecaster PRO is the most multifunctional podcast-designed mixer for people without any audio-production experience.
Price: 500 €

3. Microphones

The Rødecaster PRO is the most multifunctional podcast-designed mixer for people without any audio-production experience.
Price: 500 €

4. Boom arms

We have one Gator Frameworks for 140 € and two Røde PSA1 for 89 € each. Both boom arms are great, the Gator FrameWorks looks slicker with the integrated XLR cable.

5. Mic activators

We use dynamic microphones which tend to be quieter. To add a little volume without generating background noise we use one double (69 €) and two singles (38 € each) Klark Teknik Mic activators.

6. Cables and adaptors

We have bought several XLR cables and adapt jack adapters 3.5 mm to 6.35 mm for headphones which allows you to use regular headphones with the Rødecaster PRO. We bought what we found at a convenient price online.

7. Laptop

We are Windows users and for the podcast, we connect the Rødecaster PRO to an OMEN 15 2020 AMD powered which you can get for 1200 €.

8. Software and hosting

To edit our podcast we use Audacity a free audio-editing software. To record interviews online we use whether Skype (free) or Zencastr (up to 8 hours a month recording time free). We host our podcast on the free Spotify powered platform Anchor.fm
